Rhonda King

SPECIAL COUNSEL

In 2011, Rhonda King, together with her husband and business partner, Rick Jones, established JHK Legal Brisbane, with the intent of redefining the way legal firms do business.

Their mission was:

  • to totally redefine the public’s perception of a law firm;
  • take law out of the past and into the present;
  • and to offer their clients the best of the old and the new…highly experienced legal advice bookended by innovative thinking.

And right from the start Rhonda knew JHK Legal was going to be a very special law firm.

We established JHK Legal because we wanted to do things differently to other firms. We set out to be transparent, contactable, and approachable… for example we offer fixed fees and actually encourage our clients to call us.” says Rhonda.

Five years on, our point of difference is working for us. With over 40 staff located over four different offices on the East Coast of Australia, we’re providing outcome-focused solutions that consistently deliver a great result. Our loyal clients tell us how much they enjoy working with us. And we certainly enjoy working with them.

Rhonda’s extensive experience includes:

  • over 34 years’ practice in all areas of corporate, commercial, banking and finance, litigation and insolvency law
  • serving on the board of various companies, including Collection House Limited and associations including Hockey Queensland and the Brisbane Lions Foundation
  • providing advice on corporate governance, capital raising, ASX Listing Rules, director’s obligations, trustees and trustee powers

Rhonda is also committed to ongoing professional learning and teaching, holding a Masters of Law (Commercial Law) and is currently completing her Doctorate at the Queensland University of Technology. She also regularly conducts seminars on many areas of law including corporate and commercial law and insolvency.

I’m excited by the cutting edge of the law, the challenges it constantly asks us to solve,” says Rhonda.

But what I enjoy most about this job, the thing that I’m most proud of, is our commitment to our clients. They come to us at a time when they are often at their most vulnerable and we stand by them and help them through the tough times.
