About Nicholas


Nicholas is currently an Associate at JHK Legal and has over 8 years’ experience working in the private and public sector as Deputy and Judicial Associate at the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (‘FCFCoA’) and Executive Associate with the Administrative Appeals Tribunal (‘AAT’).

Throughout his career he has assisted clients with small debt claims, ACL disputes, bankruptcy and insolvencies, criminal proceedings, estates and wills, SME transactions and general commercial disputes.

Nicholas has worked with clients ranging from family disputes to SME and corporations, and has most recently worked with the professional legal regulator to represent the interests of the Queensland Public. Some notable files include efficient prosecution of multi-day professional regulation trials in the Queensland Court of Appeal (QCA) and the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal (‘QCAT’), million-dollar liquidation and franchise disputes in the Queensland and Federal Courts, complex multi-million-dollar commercial and family property disputes, and providing statutory and policy advice for major structural implementation in the Australian Public Service (‘APS’) and the Queensland Public Sector.

He also have experience providing legal advice and assistance through a number of volunteer services including the LGBTI Legal Service and the Refugee and Immigration Legal Service (‘RAILS’).

Nicholas is an excellent communicator and litigator aiming to provide clients with timely advice and assistance. He is highly skilled in negotiation, alternate dispute resolution, legal research, and litigation, and always strives to achieve positive results.

He is admitted as a practitioner in Queensland and is also admitted to the High Court of Australia and the High Court of New Zealand. He has conducted multi-day trials in the Queensland and Federal Courts. He currently holds. a practicing certificate in Queensland.

Nicholas completed his Bachelor of Arts at the University of Queensland and subsequently completed a Bachelor of Laws at the Queensland University of Technology, doing graduate studies with the College of Law and the University of Papua New Guinea.

Outside of the law Nicholas enjoys travelling with his wife and family.
