As a national commercial law firm, we are committed to protecting your privacy and upholding our professional confidentiality obligations. Clients will regularly have the right to legal professional privilege over documents, records and communications held by JHK Legal.
This policy outlines how we use, collect, hold and disclose personal information about you in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). We recommend that you take the time to read this policy and retain a copy for future reference.

JHK Legal may disclose your personal information to third parties if compelled by law, where necessary to others in furtherance of your claim/matter and to third party software or service providers engaged by our firm and required by law to comply with the Privacy Act.
We generally do not disclose personal information overseas. However, if for any reason JHK Legal needs to disclose your personal information, we will comply with the requirements of the Privacy Act that relates to trans-border data flow.
Marketing
JHK Legal does not disclose any personal or contact information (including email or postal address) to third parties for the purposes of allowing them to market products to clients.
Where you have consented, or where JHK Legal has a business relationship with you, we may use your personal information for direct marketing purposes by sending you legal updates, updates about JHK Legal itself, information about events, or other communications. You may opt out of these communications at any time by contacting the email below.
Payment default
If you default in the payment of any fees or charges to JHK Legal, we may give information about you to:
- a Credit Reporting Bureau (CRB) to list your default in the CRB’s records. (That information may then be shared by the CRB with other credit providers for credit assessment and other purposes); and/or
- a debt collection agency to assist us to collect the payment owed to JHK Legal by you.
Website access and use
Where you have accessed the JHK Legal website, cookies may be used by JHK Legal to collect information including IP addresses.
