Position Overview
As a Senior Litigation Lawyer at JHK Legal, you will take a lead role in managing complex litigation cases, providing strategic legal advice and representing clients in all court jurisdictions. This position requires a seasoned professional with a deep understanding of litigation procedures, excellent advocacy skills and the ability to mentor and lead a team of lawyers. Key Responsibilities
• Oversee and take a lead role in the management of a broad cross-section of litigation matters from inception to resolution
• Oversee risk management, compliance requirements and uphold high professional and ethical standards
• Offer strategic legal advice to clients, providing clear and concise guidance on potential outcomes and risks
• Represent clients in court proceedings, including trials, hearings, and settlement negotiations
• Conduct legal research, analyse precedents and stay current on relevant laws to inform innovative legal strategies that achieve excellent results
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior lawyers and graduates, fostering their professional development
• Cultivate strong client relationships, identify business opportunities and exceed client expectations through the delivery of high-quality legal services
• Work closely with the Directors to ensure client relationships are nurtured and sustained
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, paralegals and support staff to ensure seamless file management
Qualifications and Attributes
The successful candidate for this role will possess the following qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Law
• Minimum of 6 years of litigation experience, with a focus on shareholders and partnership disputes, property disputes, building and construction disputes, insolvency, and general contractual disputes
• Proven track record of successfully managing and resolving complex litigation cases
• Strong legal research and analytical skills
• High-level influencing and negotiation skills
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Resilience and tenacity
• Leadership experience and the ability to mentor and lead a legal team
