About Daniel

Dan is a Legal Practitioner Director at JHK Legal with more than 15 years’ experience across a range of commercial law firms. He specialises in commercial litigation, insolvency, debt recovery and employment law, with a particular focus on complex disputes, insolvency-related claims and the recovery of debts and commercial assets.

Dan works closely with businesses, insolvency practitioners, creditors and other commercial stakeholders to resolve disputes, protect commercial interests and pursue effective recovery strategies. He understands that contentious matters can have significant financial and operational consequences, and takes a pragmatic, commercially focused approach to achieving outcomes that align with his clients’ objectives.

Dan has acted for a diverse range of clients, including small and medium-sized enterprises, blue-chip companies, insolvency practitioners in both corporate and personal insolvency matters, creditors, debtors, bankrupts, mercantile agents, employers and employees. This breadth of experience gives him a valuable perspective on the competing interests that often arise in commercial disputes and insolvency proceedings.

Dan has extensive experience in Federal and State Courts, including proceedings involving claims by and against insolvency practitioners, Australian Consumer Law disputes, summary judgment applications, strike-out applications and appeals in the District Court and Supreme Court of Queensland. He assists clients in navigating complex and contested proceedings, developing litigation strategies that balance legal merits, commercial risk, potential recovery and the costs of pursuing a dispute.

Known for his approachable manner, clear communication and considered advice, Dan takes the time to understand his clients’ businesses, circumstances and priorities. He combines technical legal expertise with a practical understanding of commercial realities, providing tailored advice that enables clients to make informed decisions and pursue effective solutions to challenging disputes.

Dan has practised in Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia, Tasmania and the Northern Territory. He holds a Queensland practising certificate and is admitted to the Supreme Court of Queensland and the High Court of Australia.

Dan holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice.

Outside of work, Dan enjoys travelling, following rugby and cricket, and spending time with family and friends.
